Life is a lottery

Nothing about colour this this time – just about humanity.

I have just spent 60 minutes sitting next to two very inspiring people. An elderly couple who were returning home to the USA after visiting her family back here in the UK. As we settled in to our seats the man turns to me and tells me he and his wife met in the war. !!! Yes. I did a double take. My mum was born in 1939 and she is 70. This couple had to be 20 years older than her. They were – both 89. I would never have guessed. They were sharp, alert, just the slightest shake when placing the luggage in the overhead locker. That’s it.

We talked about the war. In my whole life he is the first person I have spoken to who actually fought in the war. He was parachuted in to France, and then Holland, and then Germany. He carries shrapnel in his back to this day. They met in England. She was a war bride and travelled over to the US in 1946 in a hospital ship. We talked about war and peace, friends in foreign countries, retirement, geography and gardening.

It is hard to say why I feel touched exactly. More than anything I think it must have been the amazement I felt in the first moment. This unremarkable looking elderly couple who in a moment suddenly became so remarkable to me. Good people. People who have lived a lifetime and can still talk about it. People who have experienced the past but are still in the present.

Why do I call this post Life is a Lottery? From listening to some of their wartime stories it struck me how arbitrary life and death are in war. He lost fellow soldiers who died as they stood right next to him. Her wartime neighbours in London had fled Germany in 1937. Their house was hit by a stray bomb and the mother and son were killed in the blast.

Wrong time, wrong place. Right time, right place, how can we possibly know or choose. Life is so much bigger and fortune – good or bad is all around. This morning mine was to be sitting in 3F on flight KL1490.

I watched them being taken to their connecting flight and felt uplifted to have met something special in something so unremarkable.

My next post will be on twin souls. It seems to follow on nicely … Coming soon.

“Money no object”

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

“Money no object” is usually understood to mean “spend as much as is needed to achieve the desired goal” However if we look at it word by word it can mean something else, simply that money does not exist in a physical sense. The coins and notes we call money only act as money because we all agree on their value. If we did not agree, these coins and notes would become just paper and metal again. What money is objectively is not the same as what it is subjectively.

This expression has been going around in my head these last few days. Tonight I read an article on another website, from a lady Ros Gardener, whose actions i admire very much. Her message reminded me of this phrase “Money no object.” and so i wrote a reponse. If you would like to read her original message then you can find it at http://www.netprofitstoday.com/blog/successful-people-core-philosophy-revealed Here is my response:

Firstly, i would like to say i have been receiving your newsletter for a couple of years, and your quality Ros has always really shone through. Your willingness to share, support and foster abundance and know-how with others is so inspiring.

Your attitude of sharing, as i see it, is reflected in the way you live as though money and business are not a limited pot that have to be fought over in a win / lose competition way, but rather your actions say that business is a win / win, sharing sucess together, way.

And right now, in the midst of this tightness around money - the credit crunch, where fear of losing is freezing everything up, you are bringing exactly the right message. Its not the money - its the way it serves our dreams that counts.

The sentence that has been in my head these last couple of weeks is “Money no object.” (It seems the credit crunch is helping us to wake up from the dream of money as value simply disappears day by day. If money were really an object it couldn’t simply disappear)

For so much of my life i have lived in what i would call “poverty consciousness” as opposed to “abundance consciousness”. This poverty consciousness has affected me most in the way i release money, it has always been hard to spend in an open hearted way, joyful way, to really let go and trust that there is a flow of money of which i am a part. But now I am beginning to truly realise that it is in the emotion with which i spend that there exists the potential for real transformation. For me until now the truth is that money has been an object. It is something that i have perceived as the source of security and so i have felt the reluctance to let it go. Instead in some way i needed to sit on it instead.

But now, to be in the flow of money, as i look through money to my wishes, for myself and for those around me, rather than look at money as an object in its own right, this is what i am learning and beginning to truly practice now.

My work is with colour, colour as energy, and your message Ros is that money is energy. Energy to live our life, not an object to count on for its own sake. If i put that in to colour terms i would say that red represents our relationship to the earth and thus the material world. (Red is traditionally associated with the chakra - the energy centre - at the base of the spine). Red can be the assertiveness of the top dog with its tail up (indicating strong red chakra energy) as it dominates those around it - competition, or it can be the abundance of Father Christmas in his red cloak, bring presents and goodies for all. Your message Ros is very much the latter.

Red’s complementary colour is Green. Green represents flow and is associated with the energy centre located at the heart. (Just notice how our feelings flow throughout the day) So here we have a red / green balance to strike. Red = sit on money, green = let it flow, spend from the heart.

Even more importantly though from your message Ros, is the importance of blue. Blue is the energy centre of the throat that sits above the heart. Here is our power to declare and affirm our beliefs and desires. Red - earth is a place to manifest our (blue) dreams - just as you say your friend Yanick is doing.

Money is simply the medium for this. Money is no object - just a means to an end, the means to realise our dreams.

And if i may, in closing, it strikes me that in so far as your name Ros - Rosalind, includes the energy of Rose - which is pink (a light red) - then you Ros, help shine the light in to the red of abundance and material success for all of us, helping to make all our lives richer in the true sense. Thank you so much.

May you too live in abundance and realise your dreams!

Time: Green and Turquoise

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

Recently, while watching the Olympics opening ceremony, I noticed how much I enjoy doing something that connects me with other people in that same moment. For the opening ceremony there were an estimated 1 billion people tuning in to the same event at the same time, it was a global moment. This is the idea of synchronicity, it is the idea of meeting in time. It is a green theme.

Through history the idea that you had to be there to share the moment is fundamental. Had i turned the TV on that evening i would not have been able to see the opening ceremony unfold - i would not have been sharing it in real time with other people. I would not have been in synchronicity with the event.

In our modern world i am noticing a new way of relating to the world emerge. New technology is making it easier and easier to access events in your own time, when you want to.  First with specialist internet services - downloading films rather than renting them from the shop, and now increasingly these services are entering the public mainstream. Podcasts and downloads from the radio are increasingly common, and in the UK this year, the BBC has launched iPlayer which allows people to watch any tv programme from the last 7 days according to their own schedule - in their own time.

This is the fact, we are moving to a new way of relating to the world - the way of “in our own time”. New technology is making this possible. New technology is connected to Turquoise, as are also themes of individuation - being true to our individuality. The growing freedom to make our own choices, to experience life as we choose.  This trend has a downside, it fragments us socially (turquoise is opposite to coral - the energy of the collective), how easy is it to talk to someone in public if they are listening to their music on their headphones?

This growing turquoise reality of living in our own time is taking energy away from the significance of our shared experiences in the “real time” of green. Einstein’s work on relativity showed the way for this new paradigm, he realised that time is relative, relative to our position and movement through space. We are becoming a community of fragmented individual points of consciousness, each with increasing freedom to live in our own time.

There are so many ways to continue this theme from here

Aquarius and Leo - freedom and the shadow of central power

Changing work and study patterns - the disintegration of the family

The Aura-Soma original Tarot image of B85 The Chariot - Pegasus taking off from the earth. Very fitting to the themes of this idea. Under the sphere of Saturn, return journey of Yellow / Green.

From the Green / Red earthbound axis of the Colour Rose to the Turquoise / Coral axis which frees us from the earth, just as the internet circles the earth, information / energy flowing around it.
